The Chihuahua is one of the most popular
companion breeds in American homes today.
This adorable toy dog has a rich history that
dates as far back as the 16th century. The
chihuahua has been the favorite pet of royalty
and celebrities. The name "Chihuahua" comes
from Chihuahua, Mexico, where the breed was
rediscovered in 1850 and possibly taken to
Europe by Columbus. The Chihuahua was
recognized as a breed in 1904 by the AKC.

Why Poodles are Special...

Images of the poodle are found on artifacts from
Ancient Egypt and Rome. The name "Poodle"
comes from the German word "pudeln," which
means, "to splash in water." Poodles were
valued by the Germans for their intelligence,
agility, and as hunting companions that would
retrieve game from the water. Their signature
shaving style originated from the need to
protect them from the cold waters and keep
their legs agile for swimming. Poodles
eventually became so popular in France that
they became their national dog. Poodles come in
three size varieties: standard, miniature, and toy.

Why Yorkies are Special...

Yorkshire Terriers, were named for the English
town, "Yorkshire." They were originally the dog
of the working class and renowned for hunting
rats in the clothing mills. They were recognized
by the AKC in 1885 as a member of the Toy
group. Their fine silky coats and big
personalities in a small packages gained them a
place in English high society.

Yorki-Poos, a designer cross between a Yorkie
and a Poodle, have become popular in the past
ten years for their high intelligence and small
size. They are very trainable and tend towards

FUN PICTURES!!!!!
This is one of our shih-poo litters from Ginger and
Logan! Those two have the prettiest babies. I've
had nothing but good reports back on my puppies.
Ginger was my first Shih tzu and I took her through
obedience training and we passed! I see a lot of
both Ginger and Logan's wonderful personalities
in their pups. Very smart and playful!
